On Wednesday, Oct. 26, crews will conduct a full check of the snow vehicle fleet at PBOT’s incident response headquarters at the Kerby Maintenance Offices. They will also drive trucks along their assigned snow routes to re-familiarize themselves with the routes and terrain. News media are invited to view the inspection and installation of equipment on Wednesday.

What: Snowplow inspection and snow route dry run

When: Wednesday, Oct. 26, 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Where:  PBOT Maintenance Headquarters, 2929 N. Kerby Avenue Portland, Oregon 97227

Visuals: News media will have the opportunity to take video and pictures of PBOT crews installing snow chains and plow attachments as well as inspections of equipment installed on trucks. An updated version of the Portland Snow + Ice Routes map will be available online and on a poster.

We encourage the public to be prepared for winter weather, as well as fall rain and wind storms that can cause hazardous conditions. PBOT offers travel resources and tips online, for use when driving, walking or biking:

The City recommends Portlanders monitor conditions where they are planning to travel, watch the forecast, and use www.PublicAlerts.org as their source for emergency updates. The site provides links to street closures, highway road conditions, transit schedules and service alerts, and other emergency information.

PBOT's Get Home Safe campaign informs the public about what the Transportation Bureau does to help Portlanders travel safely during severe fall and winter weather and what Portlanders can do to prepare for travel during severe weather.
