Government can be complicated. Here’s some context on topics people are talking about in our community.
Here’s a quick look at three current updates, with the key information and links to learn more.
The Medford City Council has selected Martha Bennett as Medford’s next City Manager. Bennett brings more than 25 years of public-sector leadership experience in Oregon, including serving as City Manager of Lake Oswego and City Administrator of Ashland. She will begin her new role on November 30, while Interim City Manager John Vial will continue serving until then.
The City Council approved a study in June to evaluate the potential for a professional baseball stadium at Hawthorne Park and Harry & David Field.
The project team is now completing pre-application reviews to gather information about the sites, including land-use requirements, infrastructure and other development considerations.
Pre-application reviews do not mean a stadium has been approved. No construction decision or commitment has been made. The study is expected to be completed this fall, when findings and a staff recommendation will be presented to City Council.
Work is underway to prepare Main Street for the new layout. Crews are removing existing striping and preparing for the updated roadway markings.
The street may look temporarily unfinished or different during this phase. The current roadway configuration will remain in place using temporary traffic-control devices until the new layout is ready.
The project is expected to continue through September 30, with work taking place in phases.
