Hello Friends,
Just a reminder that we are holding a Town Hall tonight at
the Beaverton Library at 7 PM. We will
focus on the issue of stable funding for education.
Oregon’s volatile income-tax-reliant system creates a breakneck system of ups and downs in our revenue stream. When I look at Oregon’s General Fund over the years it reminds me of the Swiss Alps. So I built this image to help visualize the problem.
We need to move from the Swiss Alps to the land of rolling hills.
The reason this is so important is because of the constant instability we have in our schools
So, that’s what Rep. Tobias Read and I will be discussing tonight. Hope to see you there.
By the way, there have been a few news stories on this subject … here are a few:
Portland Business Journal: Inside one senator's plan to fix Oregon's tax system
Portland Tribune: Hass takes on his new role with taxes in mind
If you can’t make it, please take a moment to fill out my district survey so your voice is heard.
