Open For Business!

On Monday, Sep 29, the Capitol reopened from its summer closure. While the construction is ongoing and not all areas are accessible, we have gained some significant territory!

The public is now able to access:

  • Rotunda
  • Senate Chamber
  • Capitol Store
  • Galleria

The Welcome Center is coming soon - we'll keep you updated as the official opening nears.

The House Chamber, Governor's Office, and Concourse level are still inaccessible. These will come online gradually from November-January.

New Team Members!

It has been a busy few months, and we've added some new team members to the crew!
We don't have pictures of everyone yet, but you'll meet them in the coming weeks as folks pick up shifts and get going!
Robin - Tour Guide. Robin farms in Mt Angel with her family - with her oldest child just graduating, she calls herself a "Robin with an empty nest." She is passionate about sparking participation in our democracy!
Sarah - Tour Guide. Sarah is a 6th generation Oregonian and loves sharing history - be it as a docent at Deepwood, at her family cemetery in Jefferson, or at the Oregon Military Museum.
Nate - Tour Guide. Nate was prompted to volunteer by his enjoyment of participating in tours as a kid growing up in Salem, and visiting the Gold Man. In between his duties as a stay-at-home parent, he's enjoys reading and computer games.
Daniel - Info Desk. Daniel is a senior at Willamette University. He spent a semester abroad in Japan during the summer and is excited for Cherry Blossom Season here in Salem!
Iesha - Info Desk. Iesha is a recent graduate of University San Diego, and moved back home to Salem. She's hoping to begin her law school career next fall. She has fond memories of performing during Holidays at the Capitol with her dance team as a kid
Ulyana - Trying several roles! Ulyana is a student at Willamette, passionate about history and learning, and wanted to get involved in the local community. She starts this week, so say hello if you cross paths!
