Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Having passed most of the House bills out of our chamber, we are now focusing on the bills we have received from the Senate.
Trump's First 100 Days in Office
In just 100 days, Trump's chaotic and harmful policies have started to take a toll on Oregonians. The consequences are severe and widespread. Oregon House Democrats are doing everything in our power to fight back. It's time to hold this administration accountable and demand a future that uplifts all Americans.

Legislative Priorities
Age Discrimination in the Workplace
HB3187 A addresses discrimination that older workers face when applying for a job. The bill had a hearing in the Senate Labor and Business Committee and is scheduled for a work session on May 6th.
Auto Franchise Agreements
HB2127 B reforms and refines the rules of engagement between franchise auto dealers and the national manufacturers. It creates a more equitable environment for local dealerships and provides protections for consumers. The House concurred on a small amendment from the Senate; the bill repassed and will now move to the Governor's desk.
Legislative Highlights
The Oregon Legislative Assembly passed other significant legislation this week, including the following bills which will move to the Governor's desk:
HB3115: Prohibits the transfer of winning lottery tickets.
HB3020: Prohibits wagering on dog racing.
Commerce & Consumer Protection
We continued our work on bills related to banking, insurance, and the Oregon Racing Commission. We also held a public hearing on SB864 A which sets a uniform bonding requirement of $20,000 to enhance the financial protections for consumers who have a dispute with a landscape contractor.
Housing & Homelessness
The committee had informational meetings on:
-
HB3938: Prohibits residential landlords from considering the credit score of an applicant who demonstrates eligibility for medical assistance under the Oregon Health Plan.
-
HB3943: Requires all state agencies to prepare a report within 60 days on the impacts of the agency's current rules on construction of new housing.
We also held work sessions on bills which require Oregon Housing and Community Services to maintain public housing information on their website (SB32 A) and provide a multilingual notice of affordability termination dates (SB973).
