April 11th, 2025 Newsletter
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We are past the first chamber deadline and the number of bills in circulation is largely set. We are now working hard to pass bills through the House.
Legislative Priorities
A few of my legislative priorities passed the House floor this week and are now headed to the Senate.
Cracking Down on Fraud Targeting Unions

Watch my floor speech
HB3789 A allows unions to take legal action against those who fraudulently misrepresent themselves as union representatives in order to convince union members to opt-out of the organization. For more information, please see the Press Release.
Auto Dealer Financing
Watch my floor speech
HB3178 A requires more transparency and equity in regard to vehicle sales so that consumers are protected and not blindsided when a dealer over-promises and under-delivers in order to close the deal. For more information, please see the Press Release.
Telemarketing Modernization Act
HB3865 A updates existing telemarketing laws to include texting, sets the maximum number of solicitations to 3 per day, and prohibits solicitations after 7:00 p.m. To learn more, please see the Press Release.
HB3605 empowers consumers to stand up for themselves if they are subjected to unlawful sales tactics by door-to-door salespeople. For more information, please see the Press Release.
We worked on and passed numerous bills, including the following:
-
HB2008: prohibits the tracking and profiling of digital data for minors under 16 years of age and prohibits the sale of our precise location data.
-
HB3875: expands our existing data privacy laws to include information collected by personal vehicles
-
HB3167: cracks down on fraud and price gouging in regard to the sale of event tickets.
-
HB3792: doubles the size of the Low-Income Electric Bill Payment Assistance Fund to help consumers who are struggling to pay their power bill.
Housing & Homelessness
The committee held a public hearing on rural housing. We also worked and passed several bills – including those dealing with middle housing (HB2138), bringing more buildable land into the UGB (HB2647 & HB3921), and limiting rent increases for residents living in mobile home parks (HB3054).
Bill Tracking
First Chamber Deadline
Bills that did not pass out of policy committees by April 9th will not move forward this session. Committees on Revenue, Rules, and all Joint Committees are not subject to these deadlines.

State funds are being used to support the arts and cultural venues in our community.
Both the Arts Commission and the Cultural Trust support Rasika Society for the Arts of India, which operates in House District 30. The nonprofit receives both general operating support funds from the Arts Commission and in FY2023 received an $8,771 grant from the Cultural Trust to support the Society’s 24th year season – with special focus on Indian classical instrumental music by maestros from India presenting concerts and outreach events: “Vaadhakam: Legends of Classical Indian Instrumental Music.”
In FY2023, the Rice Northwest Museum of Minerals in Hillsboro received a $13,613 Cultural Trust grant award to support the creation of activity sheets, maps, brochures and trail signs available to visitors and online, as well as staff training for how to best use the new resources.
