Bi-Weekly Clips - Memorial Day 2024
Oregon State Legislature sent this bulletin at 05/27/2024 08:55 AM PDTReaders:
Welcome the normal unedited uncensored bi-weekly clips collated by younger Oregonians in block below for your considerations with other sources of information.
Enjoy the clips on this Memorial Day that celebrates and honors those who died at the time for freedom of assembly, speech and religion. They died for what they thought was ‘right’ but maybe not popular.
The clips for consideration:

Memorial Day 2024
“Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives,” said John Adams. Memorial Day is a day to honor those who gave their lives and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to America.
OREGON
Something different happened in Oregon during the primaries. There were a couple of districts that the big money lobby machines had tried to sway one way, but ultimately, Oregon voters were not to be deterred from their chosen candidates, candidates who were not in line with the big money donors. While this same big money status typically triumphs in national news media headlines, Oregon voters can see disingenuous actors.
Like when Sen. Boquist won his case for free speech last summer, the fact that the Democrat machine turned on former Secretary of State Shemia Fagan for her side hustles that bureaucrats have profited from for decades, that Sam Bankman-Fried bankrolled candidates could not find success here, and that while the OLCC dropped any criminal charges for the scandalous booze running – Oregonians know about the “quid pro quo” – there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic in Oregon.
Even the violence in Portland is focused at PSU, for the time being. The PSU police chief was recently hospitalized amidst campus protests for Palestine and arrests; rioters blocked the ambulance.
By national election time, the city will sadly probably transform.
POLITICO: Centrist challenger ousts progressive DA in Oregon – Mike Schmidt is OUT. Will the new DA hold criminals accountable? Only time will tell.
Crook County has become the 13th Oregon county to approve joining the Greater Idaho movement. This is a big deal – while it would require action by Congress, which moves slower than a sloth, there are now 13 out of the 36 counties in Oregon that want to leave the state and the problems that come with Portland. The Oregon media has tried to ignore the Greater Idaho movement and paint it as extremists, but just like in the tortoise and the hare fable, the movement is slowly adding counties who are on board with the concept, undermining the media’s attempt to discredit the movement because as years go by, counties continue to vote to join. It’s happening in other states too. People are disenfranchised with big cities controlling the rest of the state (hello, urban/rural divide) and are doing something about it - with their votes.
Oregon Capital Chronicle: Two Oregon House Republicans lose primaries. Drazan is back and so is McLane.
This is embarrassing. Oregon Catalyst reports that the $350k election mascot “Blobby” didn’t do anything to increase voter turnout. Honestly – what kind of name is Blobby? Cover Oregon vibes, anyone?
Gov. Kotek walked back her plan to expand her wife’s role (and salary) in the administration amidst intense backlash. She might move in the shadows instead – we’ll see.

Mattel celebrated Barbie’s 65th anniversary by honoring nine athletes around the world with Barbie dolls in their likeness. Some of the athletes include American tennis player Venus Williams, track and field sprinter from Poland, Ewa Swoboda, and Alexa Moreno, a gymnast from Mexico.
Daily Wire: Illegal border crossings are apparently down. Why? This is an interesting thing to point out leading up to the election. Again with the back and forth for Biden v. Trump. This headline, while announced by a Republican, is beneficial to Biden.
NYPost: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle welcomed to Nigeria by fugitive wanted in US for $20M money laundering scam.
Trump booed at libertarian convention.
Interesting. The City of Kansas City tweeted and then deleted a dig at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker. That employee has been fired – in 2020, that employee would’ve been promoted. Are conservative values making a comeback? Is there more to the Taylor Swift conspiracy theories that instead of pushing for Biden to win, she’s helping realign Americans to traditional values and googly eyes for “manly” men or athletes/military?
Etsy, a popular e-commerce website that originally started to help small business artisans sell products all over the world, is having sales issues. Part of the trouble is the company went public, and when a company does that, instead of being beholden to a mission or its customers, the focus goes to the board and its investors. Instead of cultivating a solid brand with a mission that many people could support, the company chose instant gratification (when a company goes public, its founders and stakeholders typically get massive buyouts and get even richer much faster). It’s a shame to see an e-commerce giant struggle because a few individuals needed that instant gratification of more money, when they were already rich from the entrepreneurial endeavors to start. This is just one example of how money and greed can transform an entire company, let alone an individual.
WORLD
Look at how the left is eating itself alive over language related to the Israel/Hamas conflict in this Atlantic article: “This week, Israel released an appalling video featuring five female Israeli soldiers taken captive at Nahal Oz military base on October 7. Fearful and bloody, the women beg for their lives while Hamas fighters mill around and alternately threaten to kill them and compliment their appearance. The captors call the women “sabaya,” which Israel translated as “women who can get pregnant.” Almost immediately, others disputed the translation and said sabaya referred merely to “female captives” and included no reference to their fertility. “The Arabic word sabaya doesn’t have sexual connotations,” the Al Jazeera journalist Laila Al-Arian wrote in a post on X, taking exception to a Washington Post article that said that it did. She said the Israeli translation was ‘playing on racist and orientalist tropes about Arabs and Muslims.’” The article continues, “These are real women and victims of ongoing war crimes, so it does seem excessively lurid to suggest, without direct evidence, that they have been raped in captivity for the past several months. (“Eight months,” the Israelis noted, allowing readers to do the gestational math. “Think of what that means for these young women.”) But to assert that sabaya is devoid of sexual connotation reflects ignorance, at best. The word is well attested in classical sources and refers to female captives; the choice of a classical term over a modern one implies a fondness for classical modes of war, which codified sexual violence at scale. Just as concubine and comfort woman carry the befoulments of their historic use, sabaya is straightforwardly associated with what we moderns call rape. Anyone who uses sabaya in modern Gaza or Raqqah can be assumed to have specific and disgusting reasons to want to revive it.”
Here’s the rub on this on the global scale, and the question: Are the Democrats having such an issue with rallying the voters around Israel/Gaza, knowing that their base largely favors Gaza, so creating conflict with Ukraine and Russia by attacking Russian radar facilities (nuclear) is the answer to get people on board with Democrats for the upcoming election? The other question is why do federal politicians (all sides) want so much international strife? Is it really for the military industrial complex? There are plenty of issues stateside that should be addressed if not before global issues, in tandem with, but they are ignored. Why?
This privileged American said he felt ‘safer’ traveling in Afghanistan than big cities in America. While the American government has its issues, its current travel advisory for Afghanistan is "Level 4: Do Not Travel, due to armed conflict, civil unrest, crime, terrorism, and kidnapping." Three Spanish tourists were recently killed in the country.
Could we bring in another non-biased source on this? Reuters reports: “Iran's military hasn't found evidence of foul play or an attack in its investigation into the helicopter crash that killed President Ebrahim Raisi.”

Again, some comments or observations in italics on this solemn day. They are short as I’d ask you to take a few minutes instead to be part of the one percent who actually visit the war dead at a cemetery or say a prayer for their proud souls. They gave their all so we should take the time to thank them.
Oregon v. World. Many continue to ask why Millennials and younger track the world news instead of a total focus in the weekly clips on just Oregon. It is simple. Oregon would not exist if not for the rest of America and the World. Oregon is an export state. Oregon imports almost all its food you eat daily. Oregon imports its electricity. Oregon imports its fuel. Oregon imports its cars including EVs. Oregon imports the clothes you wear. Everything you touch in a day was imported in some manner. Oregon even imports its socialism. Those who view Oregon in isolation risk living in the New Dark Ages. Or in reality living in a cave very shortly if they are from Portland or Klamath Falls.
Election Changes. It is time to wake up. At the end of May 21st voter turnout was 27.8% per the Secretary of State. Her last report. As of the end of May 27th, six days later, voter turnout is 33.64%. Some 175,290 ballots have come in and been counted since election day. The new Democrat law allows seven days more of ballot counting under HB 3291.
You should wonder what will happen in November? Why? Normal dedicated primary voters for this election is 47.1% to 54% meaning 613,167 normal primary voters did not vote this May. Clearly these ex-primary voters do not believe in the lies about Election Integrity coming from Salem and Washington DC. Then undercounts were 20% and higher for those who did vote. The Millennial Revolution is coming if something does not change. As is world war is coming to Oregon if something does not change. Washington DC wants a war not an election.
What is that old famous government saying from Apollo 13? “Houston, we have a problem?”
Government serves government not the People.
