Hello,
As the first full month of session comes to a close, I want to highlight a few observations which I hope bode well for the remaining months until adjournment at the end of June.
To begin, as this is my first session, I just want to confirm that the amount of information and details to learn is enormous! On a daily basis, discussion topics in my committees range from culpable mental states, to healthcare workforce incentives, to PERS investing. I count myself as fortunate to have veteran legislators in my caucus who are willing to provide background and context to these issues as I work to gain a deeper understanding.
Secondly, I am also fortunate that so far this session has been fairly bipartisan – although we don’t always agree, discussions have been focused on issues, not people. The 82nd Oregon Legislature is vastly different than the Congressional drama being portrayed in the media.
Finally, I want to thank all the people and groups who have contacted me and my staff to introduce yourselves and help us learn about issues that are important to you, including what you would like to see happen with specific bills during session. I am heartened by all the people in HD12 who are working to improve the community, and the lives of people living and working here.
March promises to be an extremely busy month, and I will continue to keep you posted on the issues I am working on. In the meantime, please feel free to contact my office with any questions, concerns, or ideas at: rep.charlieconrad@oregonlegislature.gov
Thank you and take care,
Charlie Conrad
