Hello— just a few words this week to make sure you know about our online Town Hall for October (above). We’ve invited Jackson County Medical Director Jim Shames, one of the straightest-shooters I know in the public health community, to join us and answer your questions about COVID.
Before opening the floor I’ll speak briefly to four topics:
1) The Special Session we just finished on legislative and Congressional re-districting.
2) The crisis this summer from illegal cannabis grows, and early steps to better respond next growing season.
3) The early roll-out stages of our big wildfire bills, and opportunities to weigh in as long-term plans are formed on its more controversial elements.
4) The state’s current COVID response, including the intense conflict over mandates (a little preview: this 16-minute video from Dr. Zubin Damania shaped my thinking on vaccination mandates).
Then of course I want to know what’s on your mind. I hope you’ll join us.
Best,
Senator Jeff Golden, Oregon Senate District 3
