End of 2020 Legislative Session

Rep. Sollman

Friends and Neighbors,

It is with a heavy, but grateful heart that I reach out to you tonight with this message. I want you to know that serving as your state representative and representing our district in the Oregon House of Representatives is the greatest privilege and honor. I would have never guessed that this girl from Gales Creek would grow up and someday have an opportunity to help create positive change for Oregonians. My motto in service is listen, learn, act. I pride myself in serving to the best of my ability, being accessible and being open to conversation. The House and Senate Republican walkout has left us without time to complete the business of the legislature and we have adjourned the session. I am deeply concerned that Republican actions have left critical policies and important funding on the table, but even more concerning is the reality that their actions have damaged our democratic institutions. Shutting down the government is not a viable option. Oregonians have an expectation of their representatives. They want us to show up, work together and vote. I take my oath of office seriously and I vow to you to continue to be engaged in solutions that help move us forward.

House Speaker Tina Kotek wrapped up the session today with powerful words. I hope you will watch what she had to say today before gaveling out the session.
