News from Salem and the great city of Gresham!

Carla Piluso

Dear friends:

I announced today that I do not plan to run for reelection in 2020. This was not an easy decision, but after a long career in public service, I have decided to hand over the reins to the next generation.

I’ve been serving House District 50 since 1979, when I was hired by the Gresham Police Department. I’ve seen this community grow and change over the years, but my dedication to the best place in the world has never wavered. Serving as your State Representative has been the honor of my life, and it has been a privilege to work with so many of you to make our city and state a better place for all.

My three terms in the Legislature saw a lot of change and some amazing victories. I am so proud that we successfully invested in our schools, established paid family and medical leave, defended access to reproductive health care, protected families from evictions, and did much, much, more to help Oregonians thrive. As a legislator, I have been able to make a real impact on issues I have cared about my entire career, like protecting our community from domestic violence

Know that I will never stop serving this community (you’re not rid of me yet!). I will be in office until the end of 2020, and I encourage you to continue contacting my office with questions or concerns about state government. I’ll continue my involvement on the Gresham-Barlow School Board and with organizations like Human Solutions and the Gresham Historical Society. And don’t be surprised if you see me around town at Jazzy Bagels or Sunny Han’s!

Over the next year and a half, I will have many people to thank for their support and advocacy, and I look forward to starting this new chapter. In the meantime, there's so much to be done—stay tuned for updates about the upcoming 2020 session.
