Hello Friends and Neighbors,
I have officially taken office as your House District 30 State
Representative! I am looking forward to sharing this newsletter with you
on a regular basis, as a way to provide you with updates and highlights of my
work in Salem and in the district, ways to get involved in our community, and
to share upcoming events.
Last week marked the
beginning of the 2017 Legislative Session, and what an exciting beginning it
was. From floor sessions, to committee hearings, and to many
“get-to-know-you” meetings in between, the time just flew by. I can’t believe
that week two is nearly in the books!
As
a committee member for both the Education and Higher Education and Workforce
Development Committees, I believe that my time as an eight-year Hillsboro
School Board Member will provide opportunities to share my perspective and experiences.
These committees allow me to represent our community as we work to support our
K-12 programs, as well as how we can create more accessible means for our youth
in their post-graduation efforts towards a higher education or career pathway.

When folks ask me what my priorities are this session, I tell them, “Listen. Learn. Act.” This focus will help guide me during this busy time as a new legislator; to truly hear the issues and ideas that constituents bring forward, to learning and understanding the process in which we can bring about change, and to work hard to provide action to those concerns. I am honored to serve as your liaison, to be the ultimate “Community Connector” that is here to serve you and be a resource for the questions or concerns that face you.

Upcoming Events with the Representative
What an exciting week of firsts! My training wheels are already flying off and I look forward to the many productive days that are to follow in this 2017 session. Thank you all for joining me on this journey! Together, we will continue to work hard for this district and for ways to move this beautiful state of ours forward.
