On Monday, June 20 at 7 p.m. I'll be hosting a North Portland air quality community meeting in the Buckley Center Auditorium at the University of Portland. (Click here for a campus map).
We'll be discussing the preliminary results of the DEQ's North Portland air quality monitoring in the Swan Island area of North Portland. You can read a summary of the preliminary results here: North Portland Air Quality Monitoring Project Summary.
Senator Michael Dembrow and Representative Mitch Greenlick will also join us to discuss one of the biggest air quality problems we face in the metro area: emissions from diesel engines. They have spent several years looking into a variety of regulations and financial incentives that could begin moving Oregon away from older diesel engines and toward a cleaner, healthier future.
I hope to see many of you at UP on Monday. Please consider forwarding this email to any friends or neighbors who may be interested, or clicking on the image below and sharing this post on Facebook:
On Tuesday, June 28, from 6 to 7:30
p.m., Cleaner Air Oregon will hold an interactive
webinar to discuss Washington and California’s industrial air toxics programs, and how human health
risk assessments in those states can inform a new regulatory approach in Oregon.
All members
of the community are invited to join this conversation, ask
questions and provide input about Cleaner Air Oregon, the new program to reform
industrial air toxics regulations.
No RSVP is required to join the
event, but more information is available on the Facebook events page.
Best,
