They're Unexpectedly Showing Up on Some Websites
The Federal Trade Commision is getting reports about a new phishing scam that looks a lot like the CAPTCHA requests you might be used to seeing. Real CAPTCHAs give you image or text-based tasks to prove you’re not a robot — something like typing letters and numbers exactly as they appear, or matching pictures of things like fire hydrants or traffic lights.
Falling for a CAPTCHA scam may lead to malware being installed on your computer or other device.
Work Zone Safety - Slow Down, Pay Attention & Have a Little Patience
Oregon work zone crashes hit a five-year high in 2024 - 621, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. The crashes claimed 14 lives and resulted in 36 serious injuries.
Failing to yield to a construction worker is a $265 fine. Not obeying a flagger and their instructions is a $440 fine. And if you endanger the flagger, it's an A Misdemeanor (crime). Also a crime - going around a ROAD CLOSED sign and/or barrier.
The temporary speed posted in a work zone (white signs w/black lettering or electronic signs) applies at all times, even if workers are not visible. In some cases, fines for traffic violations may be doubled.
Road construction can challenge the best of us, but in the end, we usually appreciate it when the road is a little smoother or wider.
Sometimes knowing what to expect can ease the frustration.
