May is Wildfire Preparedness Month and the perfect time to prepare for wildfire season. Taking a few small and simple steps can increase your wildfire resilience and help to protect your home, your family, and your community.

Prepare Your Home: Hardening your home and creating defensible space is key. The first five feet around your home is the most important place to start – clearing debris, choosing safer materials, and reducing things that can ignite around your home can make a big difference during a wildfire.

Create an Emergency Plan & Go-Kit: Knowing what to do before, during, and after a wildfire can help keep you and your loved ones safe. Be sure you know and understand evacuation levels and routes, too!

Emergency Services Day
For the past 43 years, the Washington County Chamber has hosted Leadership Hillsboro — a civic immersion and leadership development program designed to engage a diverse and collaborative group of people.
As part of the program, Emergency Services Day brings together Hillsboro's public safety partners to explain and showcase how we work together in fire, police, and emergency medical services, to address critical issues and respond to emergencies.
Participants go behind the scenes in this hands-on learning experience — getting to know our people, our programs, and the services we provide in public safety every day.

The Air Show Returns to Hillsboro
The Oregon International Air Show is once again set to take to the skies over Hillsboro, May 15-17. It's a weekend full of excitement with activities both on and off the ground.
As the event sets to take-off, we want you to be safe and prepared.

- You can expect road closures and delays around the airport during the air show.
- Use caution and watch for pedestrians when traveling near the airport.
