Linked to Notorious Serial Killer Cesar Barone
The Washington County District Attorney’s Office’s Cold Case Unit, in partnership with the Hillsboro Police Department, has linked infamous serial killer Cesar Barone to the previously unsolved 1992 murder of Hillsboro resident Elizabeth Wasson.
Mrs. Wasson was found murdered in her home on September 23, 1992. The 82-year-old woman was beloved by friends and family. Known as the neighborhood Avon Lady, she was the widow of a pastor and a pillar of her community. Despite extensive investigative efforts at the time, the case went unsolved for more than three decades.

Chillsboro PD Goes All-In for SOOR Athletes
On Saturday, February 21, Chillsboro PD will participate in the 2026 Law Enforcement Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. The Polar Plunge is the biggest annual fundraiser for Special Olympics Oregon (SOOR), and monies raised help ensure people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have the opportunity to compete in sports throughout the year at no cost.
Hillsboro Police Department officers, professional staff, volunteers and their families support Special Olympics Oregon by raising money and taking the plunge. Our team, Chillsboro PD, set a $5,000 fundraising goal this year and we're already well on our way. Check out Chillsboro PD's progress.
Hillsboro Police Officers support the Special Olympics year-round by handing out medals, volunteering at events, running in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, and cheering on athletes.
If you want to be a part of this amazing work, consider creating your own Polar Plunge team, or sign up to be a SOOR volunteer.
