As a reminder, the City of Hillsboro Police Department does NOT have jurisdiction over U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or other federal immigration personnel. HPD officers CANNOT intervene in ICE operations and CANNOT assist you or protect you from federal arrest or legal consequences if you interfere with ICE operations.
Hillsboro Police does not want to create a false sense of security – you CANNOT legally impede federal immigration agents, or their vehicle movement, or break local laws. If you are instructed by federal law enforcement to move back, or other instructions, not following that command may lead to your arrest by federal agents or other repercussions.

Earning Top Honors
Crisis negotiators from Washington County recently competed in a scenario-based competition at the National Tactical Officers Association conference. The team, comprised of officers/deputies from various agencies across the county, including Hillsboro Police, earned first place.
Earlier this year, the team also won the Western States Hostage Negotiators competition. The back-to-back wins reflect the team's skill, preparation and unwavering commitment to excellence, and ultimately to the safety of the communities they serve.

Uncontrolled Intersections - Who Has the Right-of-Way?
Uncontrolled intersections do not have signs or signals. When you approach these intersections, do so with caution and slow down. Look left, right and across the intersection. ALWAYS be prepared to stop. Do not assume that you have the right-of-way.
Drivers must yield to:
- any vehicle in the intersection or simultaneously approaching from their right, regardless of which driver reaches and enters the intersection first. If there's any doubt, yield right.
- pedestrians entering into or who are within a crosswalk of the roadway in which they want to proceed through.
Bicyclists must follow the same rules of the road at an uncontrolled intersection as drivers.
If you are the driver on a road that ends at a 'T-intersection' with no sign or signal in any direction, you must yield to drivers on the through road.
A citation for violating ORS 811.275 is $265.
