Preparedness Starts at Home
Fall officially begins on September 22, but you don’t have to wait for a change in seasons to prepare for an emergency. Emergencies can unexpectedly impact us in many ways, large and small, for a few minutes or a few weeks. Now is a great time to begin or review preparations for responding to and recovering from emergencies and natural disasters. In fact, not all emergencies are weather-related.
Hillsboro Fire & Rescue and the City of Hillsboro Emergency Management encourage all community members to take steps to prepare.

Five simple steps to get you started:
- Start Small, but Start Now
- Water is Top Priority
- Stock Foods that Don't Need a Fridge
- Make a "Grab-&-Go" List
- Get to Know Your Neighbors and Get Involved in Your Community

Firefighters in Training
Hillsboro's newest firefighter recruits continue their 16-week training academy and are working hard to sharpen their skills in firefighting and emergency response.
Last week's focus was on hose deployment, hydrant operations, and effective hose loading techniques.
Once the recruits complete the academy, they'll be assigned to a fire station and work alongside our seasoned firefighters.
Follow along in their journey to become firefighters on Facebook and Instagram.
