Hillsboro's American Legion Firefighter of the Year
Engineer/Paramedic Ty Wells was recently honored by the Hillsboro American Legion Post #6 as the 2023 Hillsboro Firefighter of the Year.
A 23-year veteran of Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Ty has spent much of his career as an engineer on Truck 5 at our Jones Farm fire station. He provides important insight into the design and specification of new apparatus and is instrumental in training new firefighters on truck operations at emergency incidents. Ty's care and compassion for Hillsboro community members does not go unnoticed. He has been recognized six times with EMS lifesaving awards.
Ty is driven, reliable, and recognized by his peers as a dedicated member of our department. Congratulations, Ty!

Apartment Landlord Fire Safety Training: May 21
Property managers and staff of multi-family housing apartment complexes are invited to join Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Clackamas Fire District #1 and Red Cross Cascades Region for a FREE training in Hillsboro, OR.
The training will cover the basics of fire, common fire causes, fire and life safety inspections, the fire investigation process, youth fire intervention and landlord responsibilities to help ensure safe communities. The Red Cross will also cover their critical role when it comes to helping people displaced by fire.
Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the fire station, participate in hands-only CPR and fire extinguisher demonstrations.
Pre-registration is required, and space is limited.
