The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is continuing to invest in Oregon’s future with roadway improvement projects throughout Oregon’s central region (ODOT Region 4). ODOT is committed to providing safe, efficient transportations systems. The following projects reflect ODOT’s commitment to make improvements as traffic numbers rise and to make the roadways safer and more efficient for drivers:

DESCHUTES COUNTY
U.S. Highway 97 (The Dalles-California Highway)
Lava Butte to S. Century Interchange
Construction continues on southbound lanes. Traffic is restricted to a single lane. The entrance to southbound onramp to U.S. 97 at Cottonwood has shifted to the east slightly.
Highway access to Lava Lands Visitor Center and Crawford Road is from southbound U.S. 97. Northbound travelers to these facilities should follow the detour using Exit 143 and gain access via southbound U.S. 97.

KLAMATH COUNTY
U.S. 97: OR31 Jct - Crescent Ranger Station
In Crescent, traffic is shifted to the center of the roadway with no center turn lane. Street, business, and pedestrian accesses are marked.
Shoulder, curb and sidewalk work and abrupt edge on both sides of roadway in Gilcrest and Crescent.
Daytime construction work is from 5 AM to 4 PM. Watch for flaggers on roadway and expect delays of 10 minute or less until 11 AM.

Reinforced Soil Slope construction and miscellaneous shoulder work
Day time work 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday
Watch for trucks entering and exiting the highway.
No traffic delays expected

SHERMAN COUNTY
US97 SPANISH HOLLOW BRIDGES
Highway OR42 - MP 3.04 TO 3.32
Wildish Standard Paving Company is working on a concrete deck overlay and seismic update on two bridges over Spanish Hollow between MP 3.04 to 3.32. During the concrete overlay drivers can expect 24 hour single lane closures controlled by flaggers. These closures will not begin until August 15th.
During the week of August 15th to August 21, the contractor will be conducting concrete deck surveys and removing unsound concrete. Starting Monday August 15th there will be single lane closures with 24 hour flagging. There will be delays to the traveling public.

WASCO COUNTY
Interstate 84: Fifteen Mile Creek
Interstate 84 (Columbia River Highway), MP 87.88 to 88.21
Project summary: Replace one bridge on I-84 east of The Dalles.
At MP 88.04 on Interstate 84 during the week of August 15th to August 21, the contractor will do bridge approach work and demo the old columns and foundations. During this next stage of construction, traffic will continue to be in a single lane configuration in each direction. There will be no delays to the traveling public.

OR206 DESCHUTES RIVER BRIDGE
Highway OR206 - MP 2.79 TO 3.21
Wildish Standard Paving Company is working on a structural update to the Deschutes River Bridge. The job will include a seismic retrofit to the structure, a concrete deck overlay, guardrail and new asphalt approaches. Drivers can expect single lane closures controlled by flaggers.
During the week of August 15th to August 21, the contractor will conduct minimal work on the Deschutes Bridge. There will be no delays to the traveling public.

WHEELER COUNTY
(US26: BRIDGE CREEK, MITCHELL ACCESS BRIDGES)
Highway OR41 - MP 66.18 TO 66.59
2KG Contractors is working on both bridges that access the town of Mitchell from US26. The bridge at the West end access will be completely replaced. The bridge at the East end access will be getting a rail, deck, and seismic retrofit. Motorists on US26 will have no delays. The construction will be staged; closing the east and west bridges at different times, so that there will always be access into Mitchell.
During the week of August 15th to August 21, the contractor will be pouring new rails and installing FRP wrap on the East Bridge. The East Bridge access has been closed. Access the town of Mitchell via the West Bridge.
