Salem-area restrictions in July, Portland restriction in August
Oregon Department of Transportation sent this bulletin at 06/24/2011 11:13 AM PDTThe Motor Carrier Transportation Division is mailing two notices this week to all holders of annual over-dimension permits advising of upcoming restrictions in the Salem area in July and in Portland in August.
July 5-25 -- OR99E / Portland Road Area Restrictions -- Beginning July 5, 2011, there will be intermittent ramp closures at the I-5 and OR99E / Portland Road Interchange in Salem. The on-ramps will be closed for one night, the southbound I-5 Exit 258 ramp will be closed for two nights, and the northbound Exit 258 ramp will be closed for five nights. The exact nights will depend on weather and construction project timing. Also, there will be a 14-foot width restriction between Ward Drive (MP 45.89) and Hyacinth Street (46.49) on OR99E / Portland Road. The tentative schedule for work is as follows:
- July 5-10 - 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. - Close for one night the NB on-ramp to I-5 from WB OR99E
- July 6-11 - 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. - Close for one night the SB on-ramp to I-5 from EB OR99E
- July 6-11 - 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. - Close for one night the SB on-ramp to I-5 from WB OR99E
- July 7-12 - 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. - Close for one night the NB on-ramp to I-5 from EB OR99E
- July 11–24 - 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. - Close for two nights the I-5 SB Exit 258 to OR99E
- July 12–25 - 7 p.m. to 6.a.m. - Close for five nights the I-5 NB Exit 258 to OR99E

August 12-13 -- Portland Interstate 5 Closure Night of August 12 -- Beginning at 11:30 p.m. on the night of August 12, 2011, Interstate 5 in Portland at the Gibbs Street pedestrian bridge will be closed to northbound and southbound traffic to allow for installation of a new sign bridge. Because the sign bridge is 165 feet long and spans seven lanes of traffic, it requires that I-5 remain closed for up to 5 hours, until 4:30 a.m. on August 13. Also, the ramp from I-405 southbound to I-5 southbound will be closed.

Northbound: Take Exit 299-A to OR43 (SW Macadam Avenue) re-enter I-5
Southbound: Take Exit 299-A to OR43 (Hood Avenue) re-enter I-5 -
I-405 traffic use:
I-405 southbound, I-5 northbound, take exit 302-A (Broadway/Rose quarter), reverse direction to I-5 southbound -
US26 WB use:
(from Ross Island Bridge) use: Take OR43 Loop Ramp/Hood Avenue & re-enter I-5
