Construction noise expected in Dundee
as first bridge foundations are installed
DUNDEE— The contractor working for the Oregon Department of Transportation on the Newberg-Dundee Bypass Project will begin installing foundation supports (known as piles) for one of the future bridges. Work is anticipated to begin during the first week of December and take up to three weeks to complete. The pile driving will occur Monday through Friday during the day.
The location of the pile driving is near the intersection of Parks and Edwards Drive in Dundee. During the work, neighbors are likely to hear noise from the pile driving or pounding of the foundation supports deep in to the ground. The process can be loud at times, but the noise will not be continuous during those weeks.
Construction activities on the project continue with trucks delivering loads of large rocks that are being used for embankment work. The first bridge will be in place by spring, but there is much work yet to complete on the Bypass project. Construction will happen in multiple contracts through at least 2016.
ODOT thanks the public for its patience and support as this important project moves forward.
