Amtrak to add buses during Thanksgiving for Eugene - Portland travelers

Extra roundtrips will assist UO students

PORTLAND — Amtrak Cascades will offer additional direct Cascades Thruway Motorcoach service from the University of Oregon in Eugene to Portland Union Station on Wednesday, November 27 and Sunday, December 1, two of the busiest travel days during Thanksgiving week. The buses will stop on campus at 1320 E. 15th Ave., across from the Student Recreation Center. Most buses will also serve Salem and Albany. Once in Portland, convenient train connections are available for points north, including Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.

 

On Wednesday, November 27, buses will depart the campus at:

  • 7:30 a.m.
  • 8:45 a.m.
  • 10:35 a.m.
  • 11:45 a.m.
  • 12:50 p.m.
  • 1:20 p.m.
  • 2:35 p.m.
  • 4:25 p.m.
  • 5:30 p.m.
  • 6:40 p.m.

 

Motorcoaches departing at 1:20 p.m. and 2:35 p.m. will travel non-stop from Eugene to Portland. For other departure times, travelers can take the Amtrak Cascades train, which departs the Eugene Station at 5:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

 

On Sunday, December 1, buses will arrive on campus at:

  • 11:50 a.m.
  • 2:20 p.m.
  • 6:15 p.m.
  • 7:50 p.m.
  • 8:30 p.m.
  • 8:40 p.m.
  • 10:10 p.m.
  • 11:00 p.m.

 

Reservations are required and can be made by visiting www.AmtrakCascades.com or calling 800–USA–RAIL. These Amtrak Thruway buses and daily Thruway service are offered at the campus in cooperation with the Oregon Department of Transportation. Regular one-way motorcoach fares are available between the University of Oregon and Albany ($14); the University and Salem ($17); and between the University and Portland ($26). Reservations are required.

 

Regular Amtrak Cascades train service continues to operate from Eugene at 433 Willamette St. See Amtrak Cascades website for schedules and fares.
