Northbound Marquam Bridge closed

Monday and Tuesday nights for three weeks

 

PORTLAND -- Northbound Interstate 5 over the Marquam Bridge will be closed Monday and Tuesday nights for three weeks starting Monday Sept. 30 for bridge improvements.

 

All closures will begin at 11:30 p.m. with lanes open again by 4:30 a.m.

 

The closures will be Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1; Monday and Tuesday Oct. 7 and 8; and Monday and Tuesday Oct. 15 and 16.

 

Crews will be making improvements to the bridge including electrical work, and new pavement markings from Interstate 405 milepost 0.0 to 0.5

 

The ramp from northbound OR 43, Southwest Macadam Avenue, to I-5 northbound will be closed during the same time.

 

Here are suggested detours.

  • When northbound I-5 across the Marquam Bridge is closed, traffic should take I-405 north across the Fremont Bridge to I-5.
  • When the ramp from OR 43 northbound to I-5 northbound is closed, traffic should take Southwest Kelly Avenue to Arthur Street to Broadway to 6th Avenue to northbound I-405 across the Fremont Bridge to I-5.

Motor Carriers need to provide this information to their drivers, by copy of this letter or other means, to assure their awareness of the restriction.
