We completed the fourth weekend directional closure and all lanes of OR 217 north are now open. We want to thank the community for navigating multiple weekend closures on OR 217 for paving over the past few months. We recognize that detours and delays create real impacts, and we’re grateful for your cooperation.
Over the weekend, crews made good progress paving the auxiliary lanes, ramps and shoulders of OR 217 north between OR 99W and Scholls Ferry Road. Temporary striping will be in place until the pavement cures and then the contractor will install final striping.
The fifth and final weekend directional closure for paving is scheduled for August 15-18. The closure area will be on northbound OR 217 from OR 99W to Scholls Ferry Road, the same as closure #4. See more details below.
Crews grinding and laying down the final layer of pavement on sections of northbound OR 217 this weekend.
The fifth and final weekend directional closure of OR 217 is the northbound section from OR 99W to Scholls Ferry Road. This is scheduled to begin this Friday night, August 15, at 9 p.m. and end Monday morning, August 18, by 5 a.m.
Here's what you need to know:
- All northbound lanes of OR 217 will close for the weekend from OR 99W to Scholls Ferry Road:
- Starting this Friday night, August 15, at 9 p.m. to Monday morning, August 18, by 5 a.m.

During the weekend work, crews will pave the ramps, shoulders, and new auxiliary lanes. The remaining lanes within the project area will be paved during nighttime lane closures.
All lanes of OR 217 north will close from OR 99W to Scholls Ferry Road between August 15-18.
Paving is dependent on weather and equipment availability, which means details may change suddenly. Please check the project website and your inbox regularly for the most up-to-date information.
The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project will construct auxiliary lanes in both directions of OR 217 between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. Auxiliary lanes are ramp-to-ramp connections on the highway that help reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. This decreases conflicts, improves safety and the flow of traffic, and ultimately allows the existing lanes to work more efficiently. We expect up to 73,000 hours of travel time saved each year with these improvements.
We aren't just making improvements to the highway itself. We also need to make the area surrounding OR 217 safer for all users. In partnership with the City of Beaverton and Washington County, we are making targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes.
