We completed the second weekend directional closure and all lanes of OR 217 south are now open. Lanes reopened over 12 hours early around 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Over the weekend, crews focused on paving the ramps, shoulders and new auxiliary lane on OR 217 south between Scholls Ferry Road and just beyond Greenburg Road.
Drivers should expect to travel temporarily on a rougher, ground-down surface on OR 217 south between Greenburg Road and OR 99W. Crews will continue paving this section during nighttime single-lane closures throughout the week. There are abrupt pavement edges along the shoulder in some locations, so please continue to drive with caution.
This weekend directional closure was the second of five. The third one is coming up June 20-June 23 on OR 217 southbound. The closure area will be the same as this past weekend. See more details below.

The third weekend directional closure of OR 217 south between Canyon Road and OR 99W is scheduled to begin Friday night, June 20, at 9 p.m. and end Monday morning, June 23, by 5 a.m. The closure area is the same as this past weekend.
Paving and striping is dependent on weather and equipment availability, which means details may change suddenly. Please check the project website and your inbox regularly for the most up-to-date information.
Here's what you need to know:

All southbound lanes of OR 217 will close for the weekend from Canyon Road to OR 99W:
- Starting Friday night, June 20, at 9 p.m. to Monday morning, June 23, by 5 a.m.
- All southbound drivers will exit OR 217 at Canyon Road.
- The following southbound ramps will also close for the weekend:
- Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway on-ramp.
- Allen Boulevard off-ramp.
- Denney Road on-ramp.
- Hall Boulevard off-ramp.
- Hall Boulevard on-ramp.
- Scholls Ferry Road off-ramp.
- Scholls Ferry Road on-ramp.
- Greenburg Road off-ramp.
- Greenburg Road on-ramp.
- OR 99W off-ramp.
- Detour is via U.S. 26, I-405, and I-5 through Portland.
- Additional weekend directional closures to complete paving are scheduled for the weekend of June 27 (northbound), weather permitting.
The new auxiliary lanes may not open right away -- crews might still need to use them to finish work along the shoulders and side slopes.
All lanes of OR 217 south will close from Canyon Road to OR 99W between June 20-23.
Check Tripcheck before you leave and use alternate routes. Consider avoiding the highway by following the signed detour on U.S. 26 to the north of the closure area, I-405 through Portland, and I-5 to the south of the closure area. Drive safely and follow the posted speed limits.
The overall project remains on schedule to be completed by the end of this year.
The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project will construct auxiliary lanes in both directions of OR 217 between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. Auxiliary lanes are ramp-to-ramp connections on the highway that help reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. This decreases conflicts, improves safety and the flow of traffic, and ultimately allows the existing lanes to work more efficiently. We expect up to 73,000 hours of travel time saved each year with these improvements.
We aren't just making improvements to the highway itself. We also need to make the area surrounding OR 217 safer for all users. In partnership with the City of Beaverton and Washington County, we are making targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes.
