Climate Adaptation and Resilience in Transportation; USDOT

The USDOT is implementing many programs to adapt to climate change and make infrastructure resilient to natural hazards exacerbated by climate change. This webinar highlights efforts to improve infrastructure resilience through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and other funding opportunities, as well as through resource and the development of tools and resources. Stream Stability and Scour at Highway Bridges, FHWA
June 8-11; all day: Olympia, WA
This comprehensive training provides preventive techniques for identifying, analyzing, and calculating various hydraulic factors that impact bridge stability. Public and private sector engineers responsible for maintaining the integrity of highway bridges will find it invaluable.
The target audience is federal, state, and local highway hydraulic, structural, and geotechnical engineers as well as bridge inspectors responsible for maintaining the integrity of highway bridges against possible hydraulic-related problems. Consultants who perform bridge engineering work are encouraged to attend.

Nondiscrimination Programs Training Series, ODOT

Join ODOT’s Office of Equity & Civil Rights for a training series focused on nondiscrimination programs including Title VI (Civil Rights), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and environmental justice. We invite you to join us for one or more of the sessions listed below.
Title VI (Civil Rights):
- Each session will repeat the same material, choose one: July 11, or October 11 (both 10-11am)
Americans with Disabilities Act:
- Both sessions will cover the same material, choose one: May 2, or November 1, (both 10-11am)

Oregon Roads Scholar Program, Oregon T2 Center at ODOT
Multiple dates; various times: various in-person locations around Oregon
The Oregon Roads Scholar program consists of 18 classes covering the latest information on road maintenance procedures and technologies. Classes are scheduled on a regular basis throughout Oregon and are taught by trainers well versed in the latest developments.
The program has two levels. Upon completion of each level, graduates receive a Roads Scholar certificate to document their professional development. Sponsoring agencies receive an engraved plaque listing their employees who have successfully completed the programs.

NHI Appraisal Courses, FHWA
Multiple dates and times: online web based training
The FHWA’s National Highway Institute (NHI) is offering two appraisal courses: NHI-141053: Foundations of Federal-Aid Highway Program Appraisals and NHI-141054: Practical Applications in Federal-Aid Highway Program Appraisals. These courses are essential for appraisers who want to understand how to incorporate Uniform Act and 49 CFR Part 24 appraisal requirements into right-of-way appraisals.
The course “Foundations of Federal-aid Highway Program Appraisals (NHI 141053) is a seven-hour course that is available on demand. The course addresses the nuances and state-specific differences related to the application of appraisal concepts and Uniform Act requirements of 49 CFR Part 24. Learners will explore the appraiser's role in the overall project development process and how an appraiser's expertise can assist in completing a transportation project effectively and efficiently.
The course “Practical Applications in Federal-aid Highway Program Appraisals (NHI 141054) is a seven and a half hour course that builds on the foundation developed in the first course and will be offered in June, August and October 2024. Registration for this course is available through the NHI website.

Contract Administration Training Certificate, DAS Procurement
Self-paced online training
Did you know project staff working on consultant selection procurements for federal-aid projects are required to complete the DAS Contract Administration Training Certificate? If you haven’t taken this course, or haven’t taken it recently, we recommend taking this course in Workday Learning. The DAS Contract Administration Training Certificate consists of 11 self-paced modules and provides basic procurement training necessary for administering public contracts. Questions? There's a lot to know and remember when working on a federal-aid project! The Federal Highway Administration has compiled a library of over 100 on-demand training videos for federal-aid local transportation projects. Periodically, the ODOT Local Agency Certification Program will recommend a topic and related resources for a quick self-guided training.
