Paving Conference and Safety Symposium, Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon (APAO)

Conference on February 14, Symposium on February 15; All day: Salem Convention Center

The Oregon Asphalt Pavement Conference is the result of a partnership between APAO and the Oregon Department of Transportation, and a commitment to continuous improvement and education. The Conference brings nationally recognized experts and cutting-edge technology to Oregon to ensure that industry and agency personnel have the tools, technologies, and best practices to design and construct the best roadway infrastructure possible.

The Oregon Safety Symposium is at the Convention Center, and will feature speakers, vendors, and education on roadway work zone safety. The Conference and the Symposium is the perfect pairing of technical and practical subjects and will also be a great networking opportunity. ADA curb ramp install in Independence

2024 ADA Curb Ramp Inspector Certification, ODOT

Format varies

The 2024 ADA Curb Ramp Inspector and Contractor initial certification and recertification training and exams are now live on Workday Learning. The Initial certification curriculum includes online training, online exam and practical field exam.

The recertification curriculum includes only the online training and online exam. For you to qualify for the recertification curriculum, you must be currently certified. If your certification has expired, you must go through the initial certification curriculum.

The 2023-2024 Construction Training schedule is underway! Most training opportunities occur January through March, so don't delay. Do you need to obtain or renew a Certified General Construction Inspector certification? Expand your inspector certifications with specialty certifications in areas such as environmental, traffic signals or asphalt? Contract Administration Training Certificate, DAS Procurement

Self-paced, virtual training

Did you know project staff working on consultant selection procurements for federal-aid projects are required to complete the DAS Contract Administration Training Certificate? If you haven’t taken this course, or haven’t taken it recently, we recommend taking this course in Workday Learning. The DAS Contract Administration Training Certificate consists of 11 self-paced modules and provides basic procurement training necessary for administering public contracts. Questions? Virtual Public Involvement Series, FHWA

Self-paced, virtual training

The Every Day Counts initiative has released three new virtual public involvement (VPI) videos including the VPI Documentaries: North Jersey TPO, VPI Documentaries: Missoula MPO, and the VPI Documentaries: MassDOT. Learn about the benefits of using virtual public involvement from both the transportation agency and community stakeholder perspectives, innovative youth engagement, tools in both the planning and project development phases, and training and certification programs for virtual meeting hosts and organizers.

Transportation Planning Video Learning Series, FHWA

Self-paced, virtual training

This video learning series is designed to exchange information on planning tools, share common experiences and noteworthy practices across the planning discipline, and establish a common knowledge base for all planners.

  • Federal Transportation Planning Process: This video explains the typical transportation planning process (based on the US DOT Transportation Planning Process Briefing Book), and provides an introduction to the transportation planning process conducted by public agencies.
  • Federal Transportation Planning Funds: This video explains the process to ensure that federal funding is being used to plan a safe and efficient transportation system according to laws and regulations and help State DOTs and sub-recipients manage the funding efficiently and effectively and in compliance with federal requirements.

There's a lot to know and remember when working on a federal-aid project! The Federal Highway Administration has compiled a library of over 100 on-demand training videos for federal-aid local transportation projects. Periodically, the ODOT Local Agency Certification Program will recommend a topic and related resources for a quick self-guided training.
