One direction of OR 217 closed nightly between Hall Boulevard and Scholls Ferry Road. All southbound lanes closed overnight Sept. 5 and 7. All northbound lanes closed overnight Sept. 6 and 8.
Plan ahead! Starting Tuesday night, Sept. 5, directional closures of OR 217 will occur between Hall Boulevard and Scholls Ferry Road for multiple nights. These will be in place between 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights and midnight to 6 a.m. on Friday night. The lanes will fully reopen for daytime traffic.
Here’s what you need to know:

All southbound lanes of OR 217 will be fully closed overnight from Hall Boulevard to Scholls Ferry Road:
- Between 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 and 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6.
- Between 11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 and 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8.
- All southbound drivers will exit OR 217 at the Hall Boulevard off-ramp.
- The Hall Boulevard on-ramp to southbound OR 217 will also close.

All northbound lanes of OR 217 will be fully closed overnight from Scholls Ferry Road to Hall Boulevard:
- Between 11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 and 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7.
- Between 11:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 and 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.
- All northbound drivers will exit at the Scholls Ferry Road off-ramp.
- The Scholls Ferry Road on-ramp to northbound OR 217 will also close.
 Overnight directional closures of OR 217 between Hall Boulevard and Scholls Ferry Road.
During these nighttime directional closures, crews will install horizontal concrete box beams in order to continue the widening work on the Hall Boulevard overpass. When the widening is complete, there will be sidewalks and bicycle lanes in both directions on the bridge.
Plan ahead and use alternate routes depending on your final destination. Overnight OR 217 traffic should consider avoiding the highway by following the signed detour using I-5 to the south of the closure area, I-405 through Portland and U.S. 26 to the north of the closure area. Please remember to drive safely and follow the posted speed limit while traveling on alternate routes.

Expect delays and traffic back-ups on and around southbound OR 217 Sept. 8-11. Two ramps in the area will also close.
Crews will reduce southbound OR 217 to one lane for a half-mile section near the Greenburg Road interchange for one weekend, starting at 9 p.m. Friday night, Sept. 8. The southbound on-ramp from Scholls Ferry Road and the southbound off-ramp to Greenburg Road will also close. These impacts will be in place around-the-clock over the weekend, reopening by 5 a.m. Monday morning, Sept. 11. Expect traffic slowdowns, delays, and congestion in this section of OR 217 and the surrounding area.

Detour: Continue south to the OR 99W off-ramp (exit 6). Use the on-ramp to get onto northbound OR 217 and exit at Greenburg Road.
 Southbound OR 217 reduced to one lane for one weekend spanning the Greenburg Road interchange.
These closures are required to build a section of the new auxiliary lane on OR 217 which will reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely when it opens in 2025. Work activities will be similar to what took place in the northbound direction last month, with crews reinforcing the highway shoulder to support the future lane. This work zone is shorter than on the northbound side, with crews able to complete this construction in a weekend.

The southbound OR 217 Denney Road ramps remain closed into the fall as crews build the new southbound frontage road. When the frontage road opens, a new traffic pattern will be in place for drivers exiting southbound OR 217 to Denney Road as well as those entering southbound OR 217 from Allen Boulevard. Stay tuned for more information as we approach this milestone.
The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project will construct auxiliary lanes in both directions of OR 217 between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. Auxiliary lanes are ramp-to-ramp connections on the highway that help reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. This decreases conflicts, improves safety and the flow of traffic, and ultimately allows the existing lanes to work more efficiently. We expect up to 73,000 hours of travel time saved each year with these improvements.
We aren't just making improvements to the highway itself. We also need to make the area surrounding OR 217 safer for all users. In partnership with the City of Beaverton and Washington County, we are making targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes.
