This morning Monday, April 24, crews closed one of the two westbound lanes on the Hall Boulevard overpass between Scholls Ferry Road (near Washington Square) and Cascade Avenue. This lane closure will continue over the course of 2023 as crews widen the overpass to build a new sidewalk on the north side of the bridge and add bike lanes in both directions. Both eastbound lanes will remain open throughout the work. Learn more about this important bicycle and pedestrian improvement.
Given the possibility of some congestion in the area, please plan ahead. Check tripcheck.com before you travel for up-to-date traffic impacts.
This single lane closure extends from approximately Scholls Ferry Road to Cascade Avenue.
This closure allows us to build a new frontage road that will improve congestion and safety.
Starting the night of Sunday, April 30, the OR 217 southbound Denney Road off-ramp and on-ramp will close for approximately five months.
-
Detour for the Denney Road southbound off-ramp: continue south to the Hall Boulevard off-ramp (exit 4A) and use the Scholls Ferry Road on-ramp to get onto northbound OR 217 and return to Denney Road.
-
Detour for the Denney Road southbound on-ramp: use the Denney Road on-ramp to head north, exit at Allen Boulevard (exit 2B) and then take the Allen Boulevard on-ramp to go south on OR 217.
After the 5-month ramp closure period, the Denney Road southbound off-ramp from OR 217 will be part of the new frontage road between Allen Boulevard and Denney Road. The new frontage road will allow drivers to travel more safely between these two interchanges and bypass OR 217 entirely.
Plan ahead and give yourself extra travel time on the highway and surrounding area, especially as travelers become accustomed to the detour routes. Check tripcheck.com before you leave for up-to-date traffic impacts.
As with all construction, the closure schedule is subject to change.

The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project will construct auxiliary lanes in both directions of OR 217 between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. Auxiliary lanes are ramp-to-ramp connections on the highway that help reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. This decreases conflicts, improves safety and the flow of traffic, and ultimately allows the existing lanes to work more efficiently. We expect up to 73,000 hours of travel time saved each year with these improvements.
We aren't just making improvements to the highway itself. We also need to make the area surrounding OR 217 safer for all users. In partnership with the City of Beaverton and Washington County, we are making targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes.
