Contract Administration Workshop, ODOT
April 6; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm: Chemeketa Center for Business and Industry (Salem)
Don’t miss the upcoming ODOT Contract Administration Workshop on April 6 at Chemeketa Center for Business Industry in Salem. The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with the knowledge needed to administer construction contracts for ODOT state and federal-aid funded projects. Participants will also learn of recent changes to standards or processes and common contract issues. This workshop is intended to equip participants with the ability to perform contract administration functions that is consistent with Contract Administration processes and meets ODOT and/or federal mandates. This workshop is part of ODOT’s strategy to improve statewide consistency in carrying out Oregon’s highway construction program.
This workshop is designed for individuals who are involved in contract administration of ODOT state or federal-aid construction projects. The primary audience is contract administration specialists, project coordinators, local agency liaisons and equivalent positions in the local agency and consultant community.

Civil Rights and Labor Compliance Training, ODOT Office of Equity and Civil Rights
Various Dates and Times: In person and virtual options
Join ODOT’s Office of Civil Rights for Civil Rights and Labor Compliance Training. All sessions will provide insight into both ODOT/FHWA Office of Civil Rights Programs, ODOT/BOLI Labor Compliance Programs, TERO, OJT/Apprenticeships, DocExpress and more. From daily record keeping to monthly reporting; from notice to proceed to final note; we will talk about what needs to be done and why.
Who should attend?
Prime and sub-contractors, local agency staff, consultants and ODOT personnel that interact with or are interested in learning more about the above programs are welcome to join any of these events

Survey Fundamentals for Construction Inspectors, ODOT

The goal of this course is to increase the understanding of construction surveying on ODOT construction projects. This course will equip construction inspectors to exercise their responsibility in verifying compliance with project requirements, as well as ODOT and/or federal mandates. This course is part of ODOT’s strategy to improve statewide consistency in carrying out Oregon’s highway construction program.
This course is designed for inspectors, assistant project managers and project managers. The primary audience is ODOT personnel, consultants, local agencies, and contractors.

CUG Consultant Contracting Series: Invoice Reviews, ODOT

The CUG Consultant Contracting training series continues April 20, 2023. The April session will cover invoice reviews. Register for the MS Teams meeting online.

2023 ADA Curb Ramp Inspection Training, ODOT
Self-paced Online Training
The updated 2023 ADA Curb Ramp Inspection Training is now available! This online course provides some guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it relates to Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) facilities. This course will serve as the prerequisite to an electronic exam and a field exam to qualify for a 2-year certification. The self-guided online certification training covers the use of ODOT ADA Curb Ramp Inspection Forms 734-0520 series, and the ODOT ADA Push Button Inspection Forms 734-5245 series. The curriculum includes the use of tools, inspection practice and measurement. It also covers how to submit the forms and where to send them.
This course is required for anyone who would like to become newly certified or recertified as an ODOT ADA Inspector or ODOT ADA Contractor. Designers may also go through the training for continuing education credits; and are not required to complete the exams unless they wish to be qualified for certification.

Fundamentals of Procurement ($10,000-$150,000), DAS Procurement

This course addresses the basics of Oregon public procurement. By the end of this course participants will understand the underlying philosophy, principles, rules, and processes that govern Oregon public procurement by non-procurement professionals.
This learning event is designed to:
- Provide all public non-procurement professionals (state and local) instruction in conducting procurements that are between $10,000 - $150,000 and greater.
- Provide a foundational overview for non-procurement professionals who are new to Oregon public procurement.

Writing a Statement of Work, DAS Procurement
Various Dates, Online Training
In this course, you will use a statement of work writing guide to create a statement of work. This class will help you determine likely weak points, questions to ask, and how to improve your statement of work. The class will also provide valuable writing tips, pointers on the use of terms such as shall-must-may-will, and steps in writing a statement of work.
Although this course is not transportation-specific, it is recommended for project staff who are involved in consultant selection for federal-aid projects.

Principles of Public Procurement, DAS Procurement

Participants will actively engage in presentations, conduct exercises, and complete homework assignments consisting of online events and research. Contract Administration Training Certificate, DAS Procurment
Various Dates, Online Training
Did you know project staff working on consultant selection procurements for federal-aid projects are required to complete the DAS Contract Administration Training Certificate? If you haven’t taken this course, or haven’t taken it recently, we recommend taking this course in Workday Learning. The DAS Contract Administration Training Certificate consists of 11 self-paced modules and provides basic procurement training necessary for administering public contracts. Questions? Environmental Update: Culturally Modified Trees
Self-paced Online Training
This ODOT video is a new resource to field crews to identify and understand the cultural significance of Culturally Modified Trees (CMTs). The video shows examples of CMTs, how to recognize CMTs, and explains why protection of CMTs is important.
You can view this Federal-aid Essentials video for a general overview of cultural resources and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 in the context of local agency transportation projects. Section C, Chapter 6 of the LAG discusses how Section 106 of the NHPA applies to Certified LPAs. Oregon Standard Specifications 00290.50 addresses protection of cultural resources during construction.

There's a lot to know and remember when working on a federal-aid project! The Federal Highway Administration has compiled a library of over 100 on-demand training videos for federal-aid local transportation projects. Periodically, the ODOT Local Agency Certification Program will recommend a topic and related resources for a quick self-guided training.
