Join ODOT’s Office of Equity and Civil Rights (OECR) for Civil Rights and Labor Compliance Training. All sessions will provide insight into both ODOT/FHWA Office of Civil Rights Programs, ODOT/BOLI Labor Compliance Programs, TERO, OJT/Apprenticeships, DocExpress and more. From daily record keeping to monthly reporting; from notice to proceed to final note; we will talk about what needs to be done and why.
Who should attend?
Prime and sub-contractors, local agency staff, consultants and ODOT personnel that interact with or are interested in learning more about the above programs are welcome to join any of these events

Carbon Reduction Program: Call for Projects and Informational Webinars, ODOT
February 28, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm and March 15, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm; MS Teams Webinars
The Carbon Reduction Program is a new federal program created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that will provide Oregon $82 million over five years to fund projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. The Program is opening a call for projects in Small Urban and Rural areas on February 28, 2023. Two informational webinars will be held for you to learn more or get help with an application. Oregon Roadway Work Zone Construction Safety Symposium, APAO/AGC/ODOT
March 1; 7:30am - 4:30pm: Salem Convention Center
The symposium is hosted in coordination with the Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon (APAO) and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Additional partners include the American Council of Engineering Companies, Oregon Trucking Association, and AAA.
The safety symposium will feature speakers, vendors, and education on roadway work zone safety. It is the perfect pairing of technical and practical subjects and will also be a great networking opportunity. This event is targeted at people who design traffic control plans as well as people who work in the work zones. Inspectors, designers, maintenance crews, and managers of these employees will all benefit from this event. Local agency staff are welcome to attend.
While there is no cost to attend, registration for the event is required. There is limited availability so please register as soon as possible. View the event page to register.

Contract Administration Workshop, ODOT

Don’t miss the upcoming ODOT Contract Administration Workshop on April 6 at Chemeketa Center for Business Industry in Salem. The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with the knowledge needed to administer construction contracts for ODOT state and federal-aid funded projects. Participants will also learn of recent changes to standards or processes and common contract issues. This workshop is intended to equip participants with the ability to perform contract administration functions that is consistent with Contract Administration processes and meets ODOT and/or federal mandates. This workshop is part of ODOT’s strategy to improve statewide consistency in carrying out Oregon’s highway construction program.
This workshop is designed for individuals who are involved in contract administration of ODOT state or federal-aid construction projects. The primary audience is ODOT personnel (e.g., contract administration specialists, project coordinators, local agency liaisons) and equivalent positions in the local agency and consultant community.

Participants will actively engage in presentations, conduct exercises, and complete homework assignments consisting of online events and research. By the end of this course participants will understand the underlying philosophy, principles, rules, and processes that govern Oregon public procurement.
This learning event is designed to:
- Provide all public non-procurement professionals (state and local) instruction in conducting procurements that are between $10,000 - $150,000 and greater.
- Provide a foundational overview for non-procurement professionals who are new to Oregon public procurement.

In this course, you will use a statement of work writing guide to create a statement of work. This class will help you determine likely weak points, questions to ask, and how to improve your statement of work. The class will also provide valuable writing tips, pointers on the use of terms such as shall-must-may-will, and steps in writing a statement of work.
Although this course is not transportation-specific, it is required training for procurement and project staff who are involved in consultant selection for federal-aid projects.
