Join the Winter Recreation Advisory Committee
ODOT is seeking people interested in filling a vacancy for a public-at-large member on the Winter Recreation Advisory Committee.
The committee consists of seven members serving terms of four years. Two members represent ski area operators; one member represents each of the Oregon Nordic Club, Oregon State Snowmobile Association and the Pacific Northwest Ski Association; and two members are from the general public. This recruitment will fill the balance of the term of a vacant position that runs through June 2014.
The committee advises ODOT on the designation of winter recreation parking locations (Sno-Parks), priorities for plowing Sno-Parks, parking permit cost, and enforcement level of permit requirements. The committee meets four times a year, generally in Salem. Members serve on a volunteer basis; the state reimburses members for travel expenses to attend committee meetings.
The Sno-Park program is a statewide program affecting multiple forms of winter recreation. Potential candidates for this position must demonstrate an active interest in winter recreation and must be able to maintain a statewide perspective on winter recreation in making recommendations for the Sno-Park program.
If you’re interested in serving on this important committee, please contact ODOT for an application. Write to Sno-Park Program Administrator, 800 Airport Road, Salem, Oregon 97301. Or email Oregon.Sno-Park@odot.state.or.us. Or call (503) 986-3006. Recruitment closes March 30, 2012.
