Welcome to the Construction Training and Certification December newsletter. In this issue, we will provide you with important information, updates, and resources that will help you plan for needed training and certification in the 2022 training season.

2022 Challenge Exams
In anticipation of state buildings re-opening to the public, the Construction Training Program will be preparing to offer monthly challenge events in 2022. To request a challenge exam please complete Registration Form and submit to the ODOT Construction Training Team. Each event has a capacity up to 10 participants and is based on a first-come first-served basis.
Upcoming challenge event dates to be offered at the ODOT Salem Materials Lab office located at 800 Airport Road SE: Jan 12-13 Feb 1-2 March 22 April 27 May 25

Instructor Spotlight
This month, we feature Art Nunez, Senior Quality Assurance Specialist who oversees the Construction Inspection Certification Program. Art has been with ODOT for 15 years, spending the first 10 as a senior inspector out of the Corvallis construction office and the last five years in his current position with the Quality Assurance unit under the Construction section. Art is also the lead for the General Construction Inspector, Drilled Shaft Construction Inspector, Environmental Construction Inspector, and the Erosion Sediment Control Manager courses. He also provides guidance and coordination for the ADA Curb Ramp, Bridge Inspector and Traffic Signal training curriculum. Art is very excited to be back in the classroom and offer in-person training after teaching limited virtual courses last season.

Construction Materials Technician Training
Construction material technician training will be administered through our Industry Partners: Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon, American Concrete Institute of Oregon and Oregon Concrete and Aggregate Producers Association.
