Improving Oregon's economy – safer, more reliable, earthquake-ready travel
Thank you to the nearly 900 people who have already visited the online open house! There is still time to participate. You can explore the I-205 Improvements Project online open house (English or Español) to watch a new video and learn more about the project through this Friday, April 30.
The project improves a seven-mile stretch of I-205 from Stafford Road in West Linn to OR 213 in Oregon City. It will add a third travel lane in each direction, improve the Abernethy Bridge and eight other bridges to withstand a major earthquake, and upgrade interchanges.

Earthquake-Ready Bridges
The Abernethy Bridge and eight other I-205 bridges will be upgraded or replaced to withstand a major earthquake. An earthquake-ready corridor will support this critical lifeline route in providing supplies and services to the region after a disaster.

Spotlight: Abernethy Bridge Upgrades
The project will upgrade the Abernethy Bridge to withstand a major earthquake and help improve congestion by adding a third travel lane. Once complete, the bridge will have three travel lanes in each direction plus one auxiliary lane for people entering and exiting I-205.

About the Project
The I-205 Improvements Project is part of a Comprehensive Congestion Management and Mobility Plan to comprehensively reduce congestion and crashes throughout the region. This project will create safer, more reliable, earthquake ready travel on I-205 by building a third travel lane in each direction, improving the Abernethy Bridge and 8 other bridges to withstand a major earthquake, and making operational improvements at interchanges and with RealTime Signs.
A safer, less congested corridor will support a healthy Oregon economy, and improve access to work, health and play.
