MARCH 2020

Andy Hood

Welcome Andy Hood

If you’ve been around a while, you’ve seen many of the faces on the executive team – well, except for one - Andy Hood. Andy is a 31 year veteran of Bend Fire & Rescue and with his current position as Battalion Chief, he adds a much needed fire perspective to the executive team.

Justin Guinan, the Oregon TIM Coordinator, recently sat down with Andy to get to know him better.

JUSTIN:  What do you like most about your job?

ANDY:  My job is very dynamic and I enjoy the challenges of dealing with diverse issues every day. Whether this is related to incident response or internal / external customer service. No two days are alike.

JUSTIN:  Do you have any messages for drivers from your responder perspective?

ANDY:  Avoid distraction. Give your full attention to driving and maintain situational awareness.

JUSTIN:  What TIM practice do you think is best?

ANDY:  Advanced early warning. Rapid incident management leads to early termination and clearing of roadways.

JUSTIN:  What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?

ANDY:  Carpentry, working on my ranch and fishing.

Thank you, Andy for taking the time to talk with us. We look forward to your unique perspective as we grow the Oregon TIM program.
