December 2019

Season’s greetings from Oregon’s TIM Team!

As 2019 comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a safe, happy holiday season as well as celebrate just some of the many highlights that made this year stand out:

Joint Oregon and Washington Train the Trainer: Our trainers are the lifeblood of our program and frankly, we’d be lost without the folks who give their time and energy to level up fellow responders in life-saving best practices. This year, we added 27 new trainers from across disciplines (even Communications!) to our cohort, including six from Washington.

An annual TIM Conference that broke the mold…and registration: We were privileged to spend the day with 113 responders from all disciplines, including folks from California, Georgia and Washington, making this the largest conference to date. Check out our photobook  to see what made this year’s conference unique (hint: outdoor stations and interactive sessions).

Growing our local partnerships with the addition of four new TIM Teams: From capability briefings to after action reviews, our local TIM teams are where we truly come together as partners to advance safe, quick clearance practices across the state. This year alone, we added four new teams: Columbia County, Crook/Jefferson County, North Coast-Astoria and Roseburg.

A Move It Campaign designed to bring this lesser-known law to the masses: How do you build awareness of responder safety laws? Lots of echoes in lots of different spaces. Thanks to our partners at the Federal Highway Administration, we were able to place Move It Public Service Announcements on TV, radio and in movie theaters (yes to safety previews!) as well as run an extensive Facebook campaign. Be sure to help us spread the word. Lives depend on it! If you’re in a non-injury crash, remember these two words: Move It.

Standing up our first Executive TIM Team with representation from every discipline! Our new team officially launches in early 2020 and will include partners from tow and fire to round out our current team of FHWA, Oregon State Police and ODOT professionals. Please join us in welcoming Nathan House and Scott Rector from OSP, Andy Hood from Bend Fire and Gary McClellan & Donny Callahan from Oregon Tow Truck Association.

We are deeply honored to be in partnership with all of you.

Thank you for all that you do.
