Trucking Advisory: Oregon 18 closed between US 101 and Grand Ronde

Oregon 18, the  Salmon River Highway, has been closed since Tuesday morning and will remain closed overnight along the Van Duzer Corridor in Polk County.

Oregon 18 is closed to all through traffic between US 101 on the west and Grand Ronde Road on the east.

High winds have toppled trees that continue to block the highway between milepoints16 and 17. The winds also make it unsafe for ODOT crews to remove the downed and leaning trees. Crews will return at 7 a.m. Wednesday to clear the highway as soon as conditions improve.

Truck combinations using alternate highways to bypass this closure area must be of legal dimensions allowed for those highways. Truck combinations exceeding the length limits allowed for those highways will not be allowed and will need to wait until Oregon 18 is reopened.

For questions about allowable truck combination lengths, please contact the Over-Dimension Permit Unit at (503) 373-0000, Option 1, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., or you may go to the Over-Dimension web page and view Route Map 7, which displays allowable lengths for truck-tractor/semitrailer and doubles combinations. For all other combinations, refer to Group Map 1: http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/MCT/OD.shtml#Route_Maps
