Transportation Safety

Working together to create a safe transportation system

Path of totality eclipse map

Arrive Early. Stay Put. Leave Late.

On August 21, Oregon will be the first state where you can view the total solar eclipse crossing the U.S. For about two and half hours, daytime will gradually yield to dusk—and to darkness for about two minutes—as the moon passes in front of the sun. An estimated 1 million visitors are coming to Oregon to view this celestial spectacle. What you do to plan ahead will make or break your eclipse-viewing experience. Five ways to prepare for the eclipse

Farm Bureau Urges Patience

Most of us get “stuck” behind slow-moving farm equipment at some point or another in Oregon. The Farm Bureau and Marion County are teaming up to remind drivers: please, be patient!

Slowing down, patience, courtesy on rural roads help keep everyone safe!

“Our Roads, Our Safety”

Federal Motor Carrier kicked off a new safety campaign last week aimed at reminding drivers of the extra time and space trucks and buses need to change lanes, turn and stop.

Buses take longer to stop. Trucks make wide turns.

Transportation Funding Package

HB 2017 – Oregon’s $5.3 billion transportation funding package – will be signed into law. The legislation will provide a historic investment that will improve and preserve our Oregon’s multimodal transportation system—not just today but for generations to come. Thanks to HB 2017, we will deliver safer, better maintained and more reliable roads; expanded public transportation; better bikeways and walkways; and a stronger multimodal freight network.
