Presenters: Emilio Debess DVM, MPVM and David Lehrfeld MD Learning objectives: * Describe the history of Norovirus * Discuss the different modes of transmission * Understand the significance of GII.4 Sydney virus * Familiarize yourself with the data collection tools and control measures * Explain the importance of adherence to infection control measures to prevent person-to-person transmission of infectious diseases. Identify infection control measures including standard precautions and transmission-based precautions. * Be familiar with the different levels of PPE to prevent the spread of infectious disease and protect the workforce. * Be familiar with OHA EMS rules 333-255-0070 regarding PPE, decontamination, and roadside safety. Speaker Bios: Dr. DeBess is an Epidemiologist with the Oregon Health Authority. He manages the Foodborne disease and zoonotic disease section. In addition he oversees outbreak investigations which includes norovirus in long term care facilities. He also works with CDC in other norovirus related projects. He may be hard to understand at times, so be patient! Dr. Lehrfeld is the State EMS and Trauma Medical Director. He is a former army medic, and paramedic for AMR in Multnomah County.He is trained in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services. To receive a certificate of completion for continuing education credits, you will be required to complete a post webinar evaluation. You will receive a link following the webinar. NOTE: Group agencies will only need to complete one evaluation.
