UPCOMING WEBINAR - Clinical Rounds: Prescribing COVID-19 Oral Antivirals: 

Join an extended COVID-19 Response Program Office Hours. Clinical experts from the White House and HHS will overview the COVID-19 therapeutics landscape. Then panelists from two health centers will share best practices from their Test-to-Treat programs. The discussion will highlight the management of challenging drug interactions. Though some information may be geared toward COVID-19 Response Program participants, we encourage all health centers to attend.

No Longer Providing a Reduced Dose Adjustment (renal) Sticker for Paxlovid:  

Stickers to implement a reduced dose adjustment (renal) for Paxlovid are no longer being provided. Reduced dose is packaging preferred over the sticker method. There are no supply constraints on reduced dose packaging (renal packaging), so please reach out if you need supply. 

The Ending of the COVID-19 National Emergency and Public Health Emergency (PHE): 

Therapeutics distribution will not change with the end of the PHE on May 11, 2023. Ordering and distribution will stay the same and may change later in the calendar year.

COVID-19 Therapeutics Locator Tool Includes Outpatient Veklury (remdesivir) 

HHS is asking (see letter) healthcare partners who offer Veklury (remdesivir) for outpatient use to opt in and  register (click here) on their COVID-19 Therapeutics Locator to improve public awareness and product access. All that is needed to register is location information and agreement to participate. There is currently only one site registered for Oregon and we want to make sure that the locator provides a comprehensive look at the therapeutics available in the state.  

Ordering Covid 19 Therapeutics and Inventory Reporting

Order Placement: 

Therapeutics are ordered via the Health Care Provider Ordering Portal (HPOP). Complete the COVID-19 Therapeutics Provider Registration Survey to be added to the HPOP system and order therapeutics for your site. For assistance with registering, ordering, or other therapeutics-related questions, email our team at OHA.therapeutics@odhsoha.oregon.gov or fill out the Office Hours Request Form for a live consultation. 

Note, we currently have an ample supply of COVID-19 therapeutics available, so please order as needed. 

Inventory and Utilization reporting: 

If you order therapeutics through HPOP, do not forget to submit your inventory and utilization reports weekly. Please note that accounts are deactivated in 90 days if not updated.  

Note, HPOP enhancements are coming soon. New URL to come in April 2023, users will need to reauthenticate accounts at that time. Trainings will also be available in April. Contact HPOP.support@hhs.gov for HPOP enhancement questions and HPOP support for COVID-19 therapeutics and Mpox vaccine/therapeutics. 

COVID-19 Treatment Program  

If you are a provider who is not currently offering COVID-19 treatment, please refer patients to Color Health’s COVID-19 telehealth and treatment services. Visit the COVID-19 Treatments Page, to learn more about OHA’s partnership with Color Health. Please refer patients to this link to start their Color Health consultation https://home.color.com/consults/covid_antivirals/request/about?partner=covid-19-treatment-or. Both the consultation and the treatment are at NO COST to the patient.
