Deadline Extended Until September 1: Health Care Provider Incentive Program Request for Grant Applications with the Scholars for a Healthy Oregon Like Incentive to Educational Training Programs for Health Professionals
Since 2018, the Oregon Health Authority has allocated a set of funding through the Health Care Provider Incentive Program for a limited group of educational institutions to create scholarship programs specific to training health professionals that will work within communities experiencing health disparities.
This Scholars for Health Oregon Like (SHOI-Like) Request for Grant Applications (RFGA) opportunity provides an opening for an increased number of Oregon-based health professional training programs to apply for funds to administer a scholarship program that expands and diversifies the workforce, particularly those serving communities experiencing health inequities due to a lack of culturally specific and culturally responsive care. The scholarship program will be required to meet the health care workforce objectives set by the Oregon Health Policy Board, its Health Care Workforce Committee, and the Oregon Legislature.
The Health Care Provider Incentive Program, in partnership with the Behavioral Health Workforce Initiative, have allocated a combined $7 million for this funding opportunity. $5 million is dedicated to programs training future professionals in behavioral health occupations. The remaining $2 million will be dedicated to programs training future professionals within primary care occupations. Each training program will receive up to $250,000 per year, for up to $500,000 per application cycle.
