Call for licensed health professional volunteers to assist in state vaccination efforts

The Oregon Health Authority is putting out a call to current and previously licensed healthcare providers in Oregon to register with SERV-OR to volunteer in support of COVID-19 vaccination efforts. With health care resources strained due to the current circumstances, communities need health care professionals who can make themselves available to join the response. Please help this effort by inviting any qualified medical staff at your practice to register with SERV-OR. Health professionals can Sign up today.

What is SERV-OR?

The State Emergency Registry of Volunteers in Oregon (SERV-OR) is a statewide pool of licensed physicians, nurses, pharmacists, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), behavioral health providers, respiratory therapists and other medical professionals who are willing to volunteer in response to Federal, State, and/or local emergencies.

How can medical staff help as a volunteer professional, after registering with SERV-OR?

There are several ways they may be asked to help, depending on the need. They may be asked to:

  • Administer COVID-19 Vaccine
  • Fill various logistical, administrative, or clinical support roles at mass vaccination events
  • Work from home supporting public health vaccine data entry

Health professionals who have retired from medical service can be part of this effort too!

  • Previously licensed volunteers may enroll in SERV-OR if their license has been expired fewer than 10 years and was in good standing at the time it lapsed
  • They may register at SERV-OR with their local Medical Reserve Corps Unit and the State Managed Volunteer Pool for Previously Licensed Volunteers
  • They will receive a no-cost background check and be asked to complete required training before they can deploy
