Oregon’s Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) is looking for a physician who is committed to improving health care for Oregonians who are enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan.
- MAC memberships are Governor-appointed and each member may serve up to two consecutive two-year terms.
- By statute, the MAC must include a DO or MD who is licensed in Oregon; physicians from all areas of the state are encouraged to apply.
The MAC is a federally mandated body that develops policy recommendations for the Oregon Health Policy Board, the Oregon Health Authority and the Department of Human Services regarding the operation of Oregon’s Medicaid program.
Applications are due September 1, 2020.
As we work toward reopening Oregon, we want to make sure you have the resources you need to keep informed, healthy and safe. If you have any questions about OHP and COVID-19, please let us know.
Updates for Oregon Health Plan providers
Please continue to refer to the Oregon Medicaid COVID-19 Provider Guide for information related to OHP coverage of testing, screening, treatment and telemedicine services; OHP eligibility; and other information and resources related to providing and billing for covered services during COVID-19.
Updates for all health care providers
Providers and CCOs must ensure all services, including telemedicine services preserve meaningful access to language services as described on the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights (OCR) website and in OHA's questions and answers about language assistance services. This includes access to interpreter services during health care appointments.
To assess Oregon's access and use of health care interpreter services for patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP), the Oregon Health Care Interpreters Association invites Oregon providers to complete a 3-minute survey that asks about:
- Types of health care interpreter services used
- Languages needed for interpreter services
- Your experiences serving LEP patients
- Your knowledge of health care interpretation services and related requirements
Your participation will help inform and improve training, policies and practices related to interpretation services in Oregon's health care system.
All information will be kept confidential. The survey will close end of day Friday, August 28, 2020.
DELTA (Developing Equity Leadership through Training & Action) is a 9-month leadership program to build and strengthen the capacity to promote equity, inclusion and diversity in Oregon's health systems and communities. The program trains 25 members from public health, health system, community-based organizations and local/state government agencies throughout Oregon each year.
OHA's Office of Equity and Inclusion has extended the application deadline to August 31, 2020. This year's DELTA training sessions will be:
- Conducted entirely over Zoom,
- Focused on the disparities that are amplified by the current pandemic, and
- Eligible for 67.5 CME credits.
To learn more, view OHA's August 10 webinar, view the program application and visit the DELTA website.

On August 6, 2020, the federal Office of Civil Rights (OCR) sent an alert about health care organizations receiving postcards disguised as official OCR communications. The postcards:
- Claim to be notices of a mandatory HIPAA compliance risk assessment,
- Have a Washington, D.C. return address,
- Use the title “Secretary of Compliance, HIPAA Compliance Division,”
- Are addressed to the health care organization’s HIPAA compliance officer, and
- Prompt recipients to take immediate action on a HIPAA Risk Assessment by calling, emailing or visiting the website for a non-governmental marketing consulting service.
These postcards, like the example below, are not from OCR. They are from a private entity.
HIPAA-covered entities and business associates should alert their workforce members to this misleading communication. Covered entities and business associates can verify that a communication is from OCR by looking at the addresses used in the communication.
- The addresses for OCR’s Headquarters and Regional Offices are available on the OCR website.
- All OCR email addresses will end in @hhs.gov.
Questions?
If organizations have additional questions or concerns, please email OCRMail@hhs.gov.
Suspected incidents of individuals posing as federal law enforcement should be reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
