Know someone who may need health coverage?

Someone you know may need health coverage. Here's how to help.

For people who don’t get health insurance at work or through a program like the Oregon Health Plan, Dec. 15 is an important date. That is the deadline for getting 2019 health insurance – and help paying for it – at HealthCare.gov.

If people in your life are uninsured or paying too much for their coverage, tell them to visit OregonHealthCare.gov before Dec. 15. That website is the starting point for Oregonians to see if they qualify for coverage and financial assistance through HealthCare.gov.

That financial assistance can make a big difference in getting coverage. Last year, more than 70 percent of Oregonians who enrolled through HealthCare.gov qualified for subsidies and got plans for an average premium of $138 per month.

People are often surprised by how much they can make per year and still qualify for subsidies. Individuals with annual incomes up to about $48,000 and families of four making up to about $100,000 year can qualify.

So, if you have a friend, brother-in-law, cousin, co-worker, or anyone else who should get covered, pass it on:

Go to OregonHealthCare.gov before Dec. 15.
