Priority Wildlife Connectivity Areas (PWCAs)

are now available online!

The results from the Oregon Connectivity Assessment and Mapping Project, including the PWCA Web Map, project documentation, and PWCA data are now publicly available!

Priority Wildlife Connectivity Areas (PWCAs) highlight the parts of the landscape with the highest overall value for facilitating wildlife movement in Oregon. Priority Wildlife Connectivity Areas are an informational tool to guide the work of all entities engaged in land, wildlife, and other natural resource conservation and management, including state, federal, county, and local governmental organizations, sportsmen’s organizations, conservation groups, NGOs, and private landowners interested in restoring, enhancing, and protecting habitat important for wildlife connectivity.

The PWCA Web Map includes a variety of features for viewing PWCAs, information on land management and conservation action recommendations for each 40-acre hexagon within the PWCA network, and tools to explore and export data.

You can also download the PWCA data directly for use in desktop GIS software.

A new spotlight has been added to the Oregon Conservation Strategy website with more information on PWCAs, including project methods, links to the PWCA Web Map, links to download the OCAMP Technical Report or OCAMP Executive Summary, and guidance on the use and application of PWCAs

We are very excited to see the completion of this effort. If you need additional information on Priority Wildlife Connectivity Areas for your effort or organization, please contact us!
