Salem, Ore., Aug. 25: Security specialists in the Office of the State CIO are investigating the impact of a reported information security breach involving the online licensing system used by Oregon, and other states, to process hunting and fishing applications via the web. As a precaution, access to the online system has been closed until further notice.
Oregon State CIO Alex Pettit noted, “We are working with the vendor to determine if any personal information was indeed accessed, while ensuring their system is secure before allowing Oregonians to use it.”
Security specialists are in the early stages of investigation and will notify the public as information becomes available.
Licenses may still be purchased at ODFW offices and through a network of retail outlets through the state.
