Scammers targeting City of Portland Bars & Restaurants
The OLCC has become aware of scammers who are targeting Portland-area bars and restaurants. We’re sharing this information with you, so you can better protect yourself.
The scammers have been contacting bar and restaurant owners in the City of Portland identifying themselves as representatives of the City of Portland Wine & Liquor Licensing. These are not legitimate requests. The scammers are providing the actual city website but then requesting that licensees download a program www.portlandfiles.online to their phone or computer and fill-in their business information.
In one case, the caller identified themselves as Jordan Reyes at 503-776-7594. However, other reports have stated that both male and female voices have been heard, so there may be several scammers involved. The City of Portland does post new applications online which list emails, phone numbers, & addresses, so there is speculation that this is how they are receiving the information.
Please see the City of Portland’s Liquor Program website for more information and do not provide sensitive information or download any information from the above listed site.
