PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon Liquor Control Commission reminds customers that liquor stores in Oregon have the option to open on Labor Day; Monday, September 5.  

 

State law provides that liquor agents have the discretion to be open or closed on Sundays and holidays. Labor Day is one of the nine state holidays defined by state law.

 

“Liquor agents have the flexibility of choosing whether to stay open or spend the holiday with their friends and family,” said Brian Flemming, Retail Services Director. Retail liquor agents in Oregon are not state employees. They are independent small business owners who are privately contracted to sell distilled spirits.
