The OWRB Dam Safety Program is offering training this year on levee safety, emergency action plans, and dam safety for realtors. More opportunities include FEMA's National Dam Safety Program Technical Seminar and events from the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO).  The Dam Safety Program is hosting a training focused on levee and dam safety, covering 10 potential failure modes during floods. It will include case studies, flood-related real-world examples, and practical guidance on flood management techniques.

This 3-hour course, hosted by the Dam Safety, Floodplain Management, and Well Drillers programs, will provide essential insights into how these areas impact real estate transactions.
Course Highlights:
- Overview of agency rules and regulations
- Using the Oklahoma Water Resources Board website to locate dams, floodplains, and well permits
- Dam safety and hazard reclassification impacts on real estate sales
- Responsibilities of owning jurisdictional dams and how realtors can assist clients

This course is key for realtors to stay informed and better serve clients.
  The OWRB will be hosting an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) training this summer for dam owners, dam engineers, and emergency management officials. The training will cover key topics such as understanding the specific needs of the audience, the critical importance of EAPs, and the essential components that make an EAP successful.

EAP Workshop in Tulsa, 2014
 This year's 32nd FEMA National Dam Safety Program Technical Seminar (NDSPTS), scheduled for Feb. 19-20, 2025, in Emmitsburg, Maryland, will focus on the vital collaboration between state and federal agencies. The seminar highlights joint efforts to tackle challenges and improve dam safety through shared expertise and resources. The registration deadline is January 28, 2025.
